Wedding photos!

Our wonderful friends Mark and Kimber graciously offered to take pics for the wedding. Those sets, as well as a couple from our road trip, are posted up for you to look at!

Please peruse and print til your heart's content, but only use these photos for personal use only. Kimber and Mark are professional photographers, as well as our friends.

It was so good to see all of you!

Back in the Mix

We're finally back in rainy Washington, where our married butts belong (the cats were about ready to kill us for abandoning them). I think our fabulous vintage Mexican fiesta wedding went off without any major hitches, though ask me about the bartender and after-party cleanup someday. All in all I think we succeeded in representing our personalities and our lives well with the overall feel of the wedding. Please.. let us know what you thought of it all!

The road trip down to Texas and back up to Washington came with it's own set of charms and difficulties, but we had a ton o' fun. Keep checking back for updates with photos, both from the wedding and the road trip.

Thanks for participating and being a part of our lives, and our zany wedding. I've already got our five year renewal ceremony all planned out, so we'll see ya then!

Attire, Theme & What to Expect

We wanted our wedding to be a casual affair, but that doesn't mean we give up our chance to dress up! Our combined style is a mix of 50's swing/40's zoot suit style with a funky Mexican twist.

Wear suspenders... wear sneakers... wear your cowboy hat and some spurs! Come dressed in whatever attire inspires you to let loose and have a little fun.

Expect to eat plenty of sweets, cut the rug a little bit, have a drink or five and enjoy the party! Alcohol will be served, as well as food and dessert. It will be laid back, so no sit-down dinner or cocktail waiters.

I'm including a link to some pictures that we found as inspiration when planning our wedding. If you'd like, take a moment to browse through and get an understanding of our intention in the theme.

Registry... Buy us gifts!

Okay, so we don't really NEED them but we wouldn't be opposed to them if you felt the need to shower us with gifts. We briefly considered not registering at all, but visions of gold embellished china sets and brocaded throw pillows snapped us back into reality!

We're registered at three places, mostly for the convenience of the gifter but also because we can't find all the quirky weird stuff we like at places like Bed Bath & Beyond. So if the eccentric vibe strikes you, feel free to utilize our online-only registry.

Registered at:

Target
Bed Bath & Beyond
MyRegistry.com

If you choose not to buy us a gift we applaud you. Our wedding isn't about gifts or money... it's about the amazing event that we're about to share with you, our friends and family. What we're really counting on and hoping for is the pleasure of your merry presence and your support as we embark on this crazy thing called marriage. See you there!

PS - Since we have to lug all our fancy goods back to Washington, if you'd like to ship our gifts please do!

Intern-o-Rama

And for those of you that DON'T know, for the past few months I've been the web editorial intern for the website Offbeat Bride.

My main job is to post, edit and create content for the website, including writing some articles on relevant topics to today's offbeat brides. My first actual article talks about planning a wedding during a recession, a very important topic to the website's readers and also me!

Man-Suit Inspiration

Brett and I are both having our wedding attire custom-made, for the same reason. Cool formal wear (and for that matter, casual wear) doesn't come in curvy, voluptuous sizes! Plus, it's my belief that having something made just for you, for such an important date can really make the experience richer, and in my case, cheaper. Have you seen the price of wedding dresses?

Here's Big B's inspiration:
