Intern-o-Rama
And for those of you that DON'T know, for the past few months I've been the web editorial intern for the website Offbeat Bride.
My main job is to post, edit and create content for the website, including writing some articles on relevant topics to today's offbeat brides. My first actual article talks about planning a wedding during a recession, a very important topic to the website's readers and also me!
Man-Suit Inspiration
Brett and I are both having our wedding attire custom-made, for the same reason. Cool formal wear (and for that matter, casual wear) doesn't come in curvy, voluptuous sizes! Plus, it's my belief that having something made just for you, for such an important date can really make the experience richer, and in my case, cheaper. Have you seen the price of wedding dresses?
Here's Big B's inspiration:

Ring a ding ding....
We're moving along with this wedding thing... we bought our wedding bands! Because my engagement ring is vintage and has a protruding setting, I had to have a wedding band custom-made for it. We went to Greenlake Jewelry Works, a family run jewelry business, to talk with them about custom rings for both of us. We even found a wedding band style for Mr. I'm-Not-Wearing-A-Ring Brett. It's manly and wonderful and he loves it :)

Let Us Eat Cake
We were set on not having a white frou frou wedding cake like everyone seems to have. We don't like white all that much, and we certainly don't like huge gaudy white flowers on anything, much less our wedding cake.
I left the cake and catering in Brett's capable hands and we have a cake on order! It's gonna be a beauty... you won't wanna miss it.
The friendly people at Delicious Cakes are making us an amazingly beautiful Mexican-inspired cake.

We Have A Venue
We've decided on a venue for our wedding. The space really evokes a vintage charm, which is what we wanted to incorporate into the Mexican fiesta theme. It's a great old building and by renting it we're supporting a good cause. Let us know what you think!----> YWCA Fort Worth
It's a beautiful old structure and it has soul. We are very excited to have all the people we love in this amazing place for such a fun event. We can't wait to see you all there!

Trekking to Texas in Search of Venue
I recently made the trek to sweltering Texas to look at possible venues for our March 13th wedding. Pricing and flexibility were the biggest obstacles in choosing which venues to look at and consider, not to mention the fact that we live 2,000 miles away.
The above slide show gives you an idea of the type of places we're looking at. We haven't decided quite yet.. but one is especially in the running. What do you think?

4th of July Raspberry Pie
The raspberry bushes in our yard are overflowing, and overgrowing, with berries and the strawberry bushes are producing quite a few small, tasty berries as well. We picked a whole Tupperware full and made a raspberry pie for the Fourth of July!
The raspberry pie was delicious and today we're smoking about 11 lbs of pork butt to go along with it :) Yay summer!

Roses
These roses were cut fresh out of our yard this morning. When summer rolls around I remember why we moved here....
I want our wedding to be full of color, life and lively flavor... much like these roses. I want our zany personalities to show through!
